The Chuckle Brothers in Full Swing on Quiz Night

Last Friday's Quiz night was another great success with a full house and an entertaining selection of questions.

Captain of the Wooden Spoon winning team, Rob Steele, is still smarting about the Peter Beardsley question........

On another balmy evening of this wonderful summer, the latest social calendar event took place on Saturday 23rd June, which being close to the longest day of the year provided the opportunity for festivities well into the late evening.
Over 90 members, families and friends started to roll up at 6.30 pm to grab a good location on the outdoor seating facilities and to salivate on the smell of roast pig from the corner of the veranda. The main activity was the quest to find the Evesham Golf Club Skittles Champion for 2018 and it soon became evident that the miss-spent youth of some Vale dynasties had benefited from years of alley skittles in local hostelries and after several close legs, the Supreme Champion – Ellie Hughes, daughter of the formidable Yosser was declared. In his usual low-key style, Yosser hid behind his large pork bap and bottle of red and completely ignored suggestions that there had been dark chicanery, since the onerous task of setting-up had been capably handled all evening by family siblings and grandchildren. Well done the Hughes clan!
For those drawn to less energetic challenges, the putting contest proved ideal and finally Chris Jewkes and Andy Jones emerged victorious, both winning substantial prizes. This side show was masterminded by our pro-active professional Rob Steele and lovely wife Katy and how refreshing to record the speed in which Rob and family have slotted into the slightly quirky style of our club.
Just to prove the point, the electronic till behind the bar had gone on strike at 6.31pm and, completely un-phased, manual order forms were quickly in use and serenity was restored – only at EGC!
Thanks to the Steeles, the Curnocks who supplied the skittle equipment, the excellent roasters and, of course, to the organizers and planners, our own Chuckle Bros. Geoff and Kev. A cracking good night lads!
And finally – the next social epic is planned for Friday 13th July ( remember we are Evesham!) for a Bastille Dinner, get your tickets booked quickly as we are restricted on numbers.
